LOVE LETTER: THE FOUNTAIN PORTER NEON

Dear Fountain Porter Neon Sign,

I love you. I know that’s a lot to put out there right away, but two blocks from my house you’re glowing on that corner and honestly, you’ve kind of ruined me for other bars.

You’re working so hard out there in the dark, casting that beautiful glow on South 10th, and then inside, Jesus, you’re even better. You make everyone look good, honestly. You light up that one end seat just right, the one where you can actually see the turntable spinning and feel like you’re part of something good.

I know you don’t make the wine list or pour the beer or cook that insane $6 burger, but for me you get all the credit. You’re the opening act that makes everything else happen. You’re basically the reason I keep coming back.

There’s something about that warm glow, knowing what’s waiting inside – the good drinks, the good people, the burger that shouldn’t be that good for that price. You’re the promise of all of it, ya know? You’re the signal.

I guess what I’m trying to say is: please don’t ever go out.

Love,
Tim
