LOVE LETTER: THE WIND CHIME TREE IN FAIRMOUNT

Dear Wind Chime Tree,

Everyone knows you. Or at least, everyone can hear you; a young tree on a beautiful corner in Fairmount covered in wind chimes and bird houses. It could be seen as silly at first glance. But your haunting tones fill the air; a sound so welcome against the backdrop of city life, yet so out of place. There’s an almost mystical quality to it. You give a voice to the wind.

I walk past you every day with my dog, and every time I experience a moment of tranquility. The lovely sounds take me out of my head, and remind me that there is beauty in the world. You are a pocket of serenity in the city around us.

I appreciate your offering; a pleasant sound, a peaceful moment. I’ll see you soon, when the cherry blossoms bloom, and the birds sing, and your music drifts on the warm spring air.

Love,
Annabelle
