A LOVE LETTER TO THE SOUTH PHILLY MILK CRATE BASKETBALL HOOP

To the kid on South 11th Street who plays basketball here:

Keep doing this.

Make stuff. Use what you have. Turn a milk crate into a hoop and a piece of plywood into a backboard. Don’t wait around for the perfect thing. Figure it out.

Play outside. Get dirty. Stay out until it gets dark.

Don’t worry too much about what other people have, or what they think you should have.

Be curious. Be resourceful. Be a little weird. Keep exploring.

And please don’t ever take this hoop down.

Love,
Tim
