WHAT’S GOOD: DAYNA EVANS

Dayna Evans owns Downtime Bakery, a bustling little spot on Germantown Ave in Mount Airy. Evans began baking in her downtime, hence the name, while working full time as an editor and writer for Eater. She and her partner in both life and business, Sam Carmichael, opened the brick and mortar in 2024, and the shop has been steadily increasing in notoriety, winning Best of Philly’s Best Bakery last year. Evans prioritizes using high quality, locally milled grains, and seasonal, local produce. She is also still a writer on the side and is currently working on her first cookbook.
