WHAT’S GOOD: CHRIS HELD

Chris Held is a furniture designer and founder of Dudd Haus, a gallery and showroom in Old City, Philadelphia. After earning his MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, he moved to New York in 2015 and co-founded the design-based exhibition collective Jonald Dudd, which aimed to give a platform to non-traditional furniture designers. The annual exhibition grew for 9 years, and when Held moved to Philadelphia in 2024, he wanted to create a more permanent space for the community of like-minded artisans that had formed around Jonald Dudd. Thus, Dudd Haus was born. In addition to running the operations of the business, Held also maintains a personal practice under the name Nice Condo, which offers a catalog of residential furniture and design services.
